The maple tree is beloved throughout New England for its wood, syrup and vibrant fall foliage.  Maple wood is characterized by a smooth grain and unique light color.  Petermans Boards and Bowls Inc. upcycles fallen maple trees that are in the early stages of decomposition to get remarkable spalted lines running throughout the wood. The spalted maple nesting bowls are sustainably sourced, upcycled, and handcrafted.

Petermans Boards and Bowls Inc. believes in upcycling – taking logs that are discarded, and making something beautiful out of them. Normally, local tree service companies would get rid of, chip up or make firewood out of decaying logs – and that’s where they come in. Petermans Boards and Bowls Inc. embraces the natural decomposition that gives each of our wooden serving boards and bowls a distinctive character. They proudly use woods local to central New England: the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont forests are a rich resource.
